One of the greatest joys in life is eating something you’ve planted, nurtured and harvested. Let’s make a plan to add a vegetable garden, fruit trees or berry bushes to your landscape. Growing vegetables might be new for you, but not us. We have grown veggies and starter plants for farmers’ market, restaurants, Gateway Market and had an urban farm CSA for 15 families. We can find the best areas in your yard to add edibles and make recommendations for specific varieties that grow well in Iowa. Are you feeling more ambitious? We can draw a plan for you so you know what to plant, where and when.
Are you having difficulties with pests and diseases? We can meet in your garden for a consultation so we can identify the problems and suggest organic solutions.
Sunshine Garden Box
Are you thinking about putting in a vegetable garden? If you want to start small or don’t have a lot of space, a great place to begin is with raised beds. They are the best solutions if “low maintenance” is your goal or your soil is full of clay or backfill. Tilling up the yard can reveal soil that’s hard to work and brings weed seeds to the surface that will sprout and compete with your vegetable plants which means more work for you.
Let us help you be successful with our custom Sunshine Garden Box. This kit includes all you need to grow your own: a 4 x 8 handmade pine frame, soil/compost mix, organic fertilizer, your choice of locally-grown plants and seeds from our list of best varieties and a tomato cage! The box should last for 5 to 7 years, so you can reuse it for many seasons. We will deliver and install it in your yard, plus you'll get growing tips and advice from an expert urban farmer. All you have to do is water, harvest and enjoy!! $450
